On the Streets

Woah, a street photograph but in colour…

Phew, that is a big step for me.

Anyway…

I was in the city walking a route a usually take. And I like this spot. Because that old building on Hales Street (Coventry) has beautiful brickwork.

It also has loads of character. So, it serves as a great backdrop. All I have to do is wait for people to pass by. Then, I have a decent street photo.

Now, there is more to it than that.

I waited for a while…

Why?

Because I wanted a certain arrangement of people.

I wasn’t sure exactly what. I knew I’d know it when it happened.

And it did happen — you can see the result in the photo above.

Three groups of people.

Because, three is a powerful number in a photograph. It’s better than an even number.

That’s because odd numbers create a dynamism that even numbers don’t.

So, it’s one of the approaches I use when shooting street photos.

The power of three. Give it a try.
